21 Days of Fasting and Prayer

Updated: Jun 18, 2020

Joel 1:14 - Consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord your God, and cry out to the Lord.

Fasting is an alert refusal of comforts, overindulgences, and distractions which adversely affect our ability to bring ourselves into a Christ-like frame of mind. It is a form of divesting the self from the seductions of dominant culture, preparing the self for righteous struggles, and committing yourself or someone else to doing God’s work in the world. Bishop Walker announced a 21 Day Solemn Assembly Fast where abstaining from fried foods and sweets while only drinking water and 100% natural juices is required to experience results. The fast extends from June 10, 2020 (midnight) - June 30, 2020 (11:59 p.m. CST) and will focus on the healing of the land, repentance, developing a desire for a closer relationship with God, and our city, state, nation, and the world to return to God.

To encourage you throughout the fast, Bishop Walker will broadcast daily at 7 a.m. CST on Facebook (@mtzionnashville), Periscope (@josephwalker3), and Instagram live (@josephwalker3). Here's how to receive daily text alerts and app notifications:

* Text "mtzion" to 63975 to receive text alerts.

* Download the free Mt. Zion app and turn on notifications within the app and on your device to receive app notifications.

Fasting requires reasonable precautions. If you have any health concerns, please consult your physician prior to beginning the fast, especially if you are taking any medications, have a chronic condition, or are pregnant or nursing a baby.
